A fox in Warren has tested positive for rabies and health officials are warning residents to be aware and cautious.

Warren, NJ -- A fox in Warren has tested positive for rabies and health officials are warning residents to be aware and cautious.
The Middle-Brook Regional Health Commission tested the fox for rabies on Wednesday, Feb. 24, Watchung Borough posted on Facebook.
“While health department personnel have identified individuals potentially exposed to this animal, we encourage anyone who has had direct contact with a fox in Warren to contact the health department immediately,” Middle-Brook Regional Health Commission stated in a release.

Along with the people, some pets who were not vaccinated were also exposed to the fox, the department stated.
“This incident should serve as a reminder of the importance of making sure your pet is up to date on vaccinations, especially rabies,” the department stated.
