During World War II, thousands of Jews were taken to concentration camps or sent into hiding fearing for their lives. Among them were the Franks and the Van Daans. Together they live in the Secret Annex hoping to stay alive and in turn find new friendships, kindling of love, and a constant battle between hope and despair. This heart-wrenching story tells of the life of hiding through the eyes of a thirteen year old girl writing in her diary. We watch Anne grow and change as do the people around her as they all wait for the war to end, and hopefully their lives to be restored. Will the Franks and Van Daans make it through the war? Or will they be caught by the Nazis and never see liberation?
