Full Snow Day, COVID Half Days Extended For Watchung Hills High School
Watchung Hills Regional High School switched to a full snow day Friday and extended half days next week due to COVID.
WARREN, NJ — A full snow day is on tap for Watchung Hills Regional High School students.

In light of the snowstorm, the school switched to a full snow day on Friday morning. The school had initially called for a delayed opening on Thursday night, said Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Jewett.

Additionally, Jewett said the high school will be extending its early dismissal schedule through next week from Jan. 10 to 14 with plans to resume full day, in-person instruction on Tuesday, Jan. 18, (school is closed Monday, Jan. 17 for Martin Luther King Day).
"Many of our staff who are currently out due to COVID-related issues will still be out next week, but are expected to return the following week. Afternoons next week will be utilized for virtual office hour sessions with students and teachers," said Jewett.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Warren along with the rest of New Jersey ahead of a snowstorm that is predicted to dump 3 to 5 inches of snow on the township.
Snow is expected to start falling in the township overnight on Thursday with most snow falling between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Read More: How Many Inches Of Snow Is Warren Getting, And When?

For next week, Warren Township Schools will still remain fully in-person.
"The Warren Township School District is doing everything possible to keep all schools open and operating with traditional length school days. As of Jan. 6, Warren Township reported 49 new cases for that day alone and a total of 270 since Dec. 31.
