Somerset Hills AAUW presents Lincoln at the Dawn of the Photographic Era

By NJ Photojournalist Jim DelGiudice Bernards Township Library February 10, 6:30 pm

Somerset Hills AAUW Program for February - Lincoln at the Dawn of the Photographic Era
Lincoln was not the first president to be photographed (he was the eleventh), however, he was our first true “media” president. What was it that made Abraham Lincoln, self-proclaimed as “homely”, such a popular subject for photographers? New Jersey photojournalist Jim DelGiudice will look at images of the man, his times, and the evolution of press photography, its place in the industrial revolution, and its evolution into today’s internet and celebrity photography.

Join us for an interesting talk on Tuesday, February 10th starting at 7:00pm at the Bernards Township Library. Prior to the program, light refreshments will be served starting at 6:30pm. The meeting is free and open to the public.

For more information about AAUW, please contact Teri Passarello at 908-313-8421 or info@somersethillsaauw.org or click on http://somersethills-nj.aauw.net.
