Entrapped State Trooper Flown To Hospital Following Serious Crash On I-78: UPDATE

Breaking: All lanes remain closed on I-78 eastbound in Warren Township as of 7:40 p.m. due to the police investigation into the crash.

WARREN, NJ — A New Jersey State Trooper, who was involved in a serious crash on Interstate 78 on Monday, was airlifted to a hospital, police report.

The crash was reported by State Police at 3:23 p.m. on April 3 on Interstate 78 eastbound near mile marker 40.8 in Warren Township.

The trooper, who was driving a marked patrol car, was entrapped following the crash. He had to be extricated before being flown to University Hospital in Newark, where he is being treated for serious, but non-life-threatening leg injuries, State Police announced.

The cause and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation. Additional information will be released tomorrow morning.
