Check Bus Pass Info for New School Year, Superintendent Reminds Parents

With less than a week before the Sept. 9 start of the new academic year for Warren Township Public Schools, district administration wants to ensure parents are fully informed of plans for transporting kids to and from school.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tami Crader sent a statement out to Warren parents Friday to let the town know that the district transportation department, which governs arrangements for school buses, has worked throughout the summer break to ensure a safe and reliable plan for transporting approximately 2000 students. 

"Each year, the routes are adjusted to reflect changes in students' school assignment, changes in enrollment and/or changes in the time it takes to get students to school," Crader said. "Often, these adjustments are made with little impact to your child's pickup time or bus stop. 

"However, there are times when the adjustments create a different pickup time and location," she continued. "When parents have safety concerns about their child's bus stop, Transportation Coordinator Jan Donlay investigates the stop and compares it to other stops in the district before making a change or affirming the location."

Crader said bus assignments and passes should be in parents and guardians' hands at present. She said they should read the assignments carefully to stay on top of any changes from last year. She encouraged anyone who has not received bus passes or those with questions or concerns to call Donlay at 908-753-5300, Option 1, ext. 5603 as soon as possible.
