Thieves Strike Unlocked Vehicles in Businesses Lots, Hotel

Police investigating four reports made Wednesday morning.

Four vehicles were broken into Wednesday morning in parking lots on Independence Boulevard and at the Somerset Hills Hotel.

received the reports between 7:16 a.m. and 10:11 a.m.—the thieves hit three unlocked vehicles in the lot at 20 Independence Blvd. between 7:16 a.m. and 8:31 a.m. alone.

No estimate of the value of goods stolen was available, but the items taken from the vehicles included a credit card from one vehicle, numerous tools from another, and a GPS system from the third.

All vehicles were also damaged on the steering column.

Nothing was taken in the fourth incident, reported at 10:11 a.m., but a door lock and weather stripping were damaged in the attempt to break into the vehicle.
