Township Hosting County Hazardous Waste Disposal
Drop off household items such as batteries, propane tanks and oil-based paints at county event.
The next Somerset County Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off event for Somerset County homeowners and farmers will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 30 at the Warren Township Public Works Garage, located at 1 Bardy Road.
No registration is necessary, but proof of residency is required. The program is free to county residents.
Household hazardous waste includes banned or outdated pesticides, antifreeze, transmission fluids, brake fluids, wet-cell car batteries, motor oil (2-gallon maximum) fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent light bulbs, ammonia-based cleaners, gasoline, kerosene, mercury switches, mercury, oil-based paints, pool chemicals, propane tanks and rechargeable and button-cell batteries.

No tires, electronics, infectious waste, gas cylinders, smoke detectors, air conditioners or dehumidifiers will be accepted at the Household Hazardous Waste drop-off.
Additional Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off days will be held on June 18 in Hillsborough, Aug. 6 in Franklin Township, Sept. 17 in Branchburg and Oct. 22 in Hillsborough.

At the March drop-off event, 532 residents and three schools disposed of approximately 27,000 pounds of potentially hazardous materials. Among the materials collected for proper disposal were 37 barbeque propane tanks, 275 gallons of used motor oil, 165 gallons of antifreeze and 200 wet-cell batteries.
