'Disappeared' Dives Into Haddican-McEnroe Case

The Investigation Discovery program "Disappeared" will feature an episode examining the disappearance of Margaret Haddican-McEnroe, who was last seen in October 2006 at her Warren home.

The episode will air during the program's fourth season, which starts in October. Investigation Discovery airs on Cablevision Channel 171; Channel 123 on FIOS systems.

Haddican-McEnroe was last seen on Oct. 10, 2006, when she disappeared from the Washington Valley Road home she shared with husband Tim McEnroe and their three children. She was a lifelong Warren resident, involved in the community as a volunteer firefighter at Washington Valley and Mt. Bethel volunteer fire companies.

She was reported missing on Oct. 12 by her husband, who said he returned from a 90-minute errand on Oct. 10 and found their infant alone. McEnroe, who waited two days before reporting his wife missing, was recently named a person of interest in his wife's disappearance.

The case has been featured several times on CNN's "Nancy Grace Show," with interviews of family members and discussion of the case.

For the "Disappeared" episode, Producer Ann Dean, Associate Producer Mamie Joeveer and Cameraman Daniel Kelly spent several days in Warren filming scenes in town, as well as interviews with detectives and re-enactments of police searches and key moments in Haddican-McEnroe's life.

Dean said the crew spent part of Monday working on recreating a heroic rescue Haddican-McEnroe performed near Bound Brook during Hurricane Floyd in 1999. Tuesday involved interviews with detectives investigating the case. The crew had interviewed family members earlier.

The case was brought to the attention of the show's producers by Joeveer, a former Marine Corps captain, who read about the June 6 FBI search near Dead River Road by the FBI and became intrigued by the case.

"I'm pretty much character centered, and her background in the Army, and as a firefighter, and a boxer, stood out to me," Joeveer said. "You see someone who's obviously very brave—she's ready to take risks—then you see this other side (as a mother of young children).

"She put all her effort into that and it makes her more rounded, that makes it more interesting," Joeveer added.

The added attention may bring more information to investigators—"Disappeared" Executive Producer Ann Fischer noted it's not uncommon for people to report seeing missing persons after broadcasts—and occasionally the episodes must be altered just before broadcast because of new evidence or information.

"We're always poised to do this," she said.

According to investigators, Haddican-McEnroe was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt with “ARMY” written across the front in black letters, white plaid pajama bottoms, white socks and white Nike sneakers. She also was wearing a silver chain with military dog tags and a white-gold wedding ring with three diamonds. She also may have a black BDU (military style) jacket and black duffle bag with additional clothing. 

She was 29 years old at the time, about 5-foot-2 and weighed 110 pounds.
