Warren 9/11 Memorial Service Marks 25 Years Since Attacks

WARREN, NJ — Warren Township residents are invited to gather Friday to remember the people killed in the September 11 attacks and recognize the first responders and survivors whose lives were shaped by that day.

The township’s 9/11 Memorial Service will begin at 10 a.m. at the 9/11 Memorial Monument at the Municipal Complex, 46 Mountain Boulevard, according to the township’s event listing.

The Warren Township Committee is inviting the community to join in “solemn reflection” at the monument. Township officials said the gathering will honor “those lost, the brave first responders, and the survivors who carry their stories forward.”

This year’s observance comes 25 years after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Nineteen terrorists hijacked four airplanes that morning, according to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. Two planes struck the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers in New York City, a third hit the Pentagon, and a fourth crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers and crew members fought back.

The attacks killed 2,977 people, including 441 first responders, the museum says.

Friday’s ceremony gives Warren residents a place to pause a quarter-century later, remember those who never returned home and recognize the lasting impact of the attacks on survivors, emergency responders and their families.
