Warren Cops Host Collection For Those Impacted By Hurricane Laura

WARREN, NJ — The Warren Police Benevolent Association is hosting a "Stuff the Truck" event to collect donations for those affected by Hurricane Laura.

"After seeing the impact and devastation of Hurricane Laura on the local communities in Louisiana we wanted to help those in need," said Jeff Sohler, President of the Warren PBA.

Collection bins are set up outside the Warren Township Police Department at 44 Mountain Blvd. and will remain until Oct. 17.

Items needed include hygiene products such as toothbrushes, toilet paper, soap; baby supplies such as formula, diapers, wipes; pet foods; blue tarps; and any other basic need items.

Warren PBA is working with TMX Intermodal to send the collected items down south.

"As we all know, 2020 has been a tumultuous year and people in those communities have lost everything. Once we learned we could partner with TMX Intermodal to send items to the victims of Hurricane Laura, we jumped at the opportunity. We hope by partnering with TMX Intermodal and other local first responders we can help the victims through a difficult time," Sohler said.

Hurricane Laura slammed the Louisiana and Texas coasts in late August, battering the area with vicious winds of more than 150 MPH and pushing to land a wall of water that forecasters warned could reach 20-feet high. Read More: Hurricane Laura Slams Texas And Louisiana Coasts
