Warren Cub Scout Pack 182 Holds Annual Pinewood Derby
Cub Scouts and Families came together for Racing, Cameraderie and Fun!
On Saturday, February 3, 2018 Warren Cub Scout Pack 182 held their annual Pinewood Derby Race at Warren Middle School. This is an event where Scouts in Kindergarten through 5th Grade each create a unique car out of a 7” long x 1.75” wide x 1.25” high block of pine following specific rules. The result is an amazing representation of the creativity and ingenuity of elementary school age boys.
With 69 Scout entrants in the Derby and 16 siblings participating in their own “Outlaw” race, there was plenty of racing action to enjoy! In addition to the races, there were photo ops, concessions and lots of camaraderie for the Cubs and their families to partake in throughout the four hour event.
Many awards were given, not just for fastest racers, but the boys also voted in 5 categories for best designed cars.

Additionally, Pack 182 Cubs were awarded medals for placing First through Third in their respective Dens. The important lesson of good sportsmanship, win or lose was not lost on our Scouts. Some Scouts are even taking their lessons learned home and already thinking about next year’s race.
