Warren Cub Scouts help clean up trails around Hofheimer Grotto

After our last, and most severe winter storm, Tigers from Den 11 helped clean up around this community landmark

In early March, after what was unquestionably the worst storm of this winter for Warren, many homes were still without power and hundreds of trees down, Cub Scouts and their families from Pack 182’s Tiger Den 11 did their part to clean up after storm. Collecting debris and sticks on a snowy hike around the Hofheimer Grotto in Warren on 3/11/18 was an effort toward getting back to normal for when spring finally comes. Families shared stories of surviving without power and digging out of the close to two feet of snow that fell in our town. Everyone was in good spirits as they shook off the restlessness of cabin fever and helped their community.

Leaders took the opportunity to educate scouts about Mr. Hofheimer, the Grotto, his Mausoleum and how he Co-founded General Motors. In the spirit of work hard, play hard; the clean up efforts were rewarded by an epic snowball fight featuring kids against parents. Not sure who had more fun after being cooped up for days during the storm! Den 11 Tigers earned their “Tigers in the Wild” Adventure Belt Loop for this fun and educational meeting.
