Warren Man, 53, Arrested After Leading Police on Chase

Two foot pursuits end in arrest near Mountain Boulevard.

A 52-year-old Warren man was arrested and charged with eluding a police officer and resisting arrest, after leading police on two foot chases early Friday morning, Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano said.

According to Soriano, at around 2:30 a.m. police received a description of a car leaving the scene of a burglary on Deer Road. When police saw Jean Florey driving a black Ford Focus matching the description, they attempted to pull him over.

Florey responded by accelerated in an effort to evade police, before he lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree on Washington Street, police said. Florey then got out of the car and fled on foot, police said.

According to police, Florey was spotted on Mountain Boulevard in Watchung Township just before 4:30 a.m. After an officer attempted to stop him for questioning, Florey again fled on foot. After a brief chase, the officer apprehended Florey and placed him under arrest.

Florey was charged with second degree eluding a police officer and fourth degree resisting arrest, and was taken to the Somerset County Jail.
