WARREN, NJ — This will be Ed Ronan’s 26th year biking for Multiple Sclerosis, which he has a personal connection to after being paralyzed up to his head with a similar disease. This year he is looking to raise $10,000 for the cause.

In the beginning, Warren local Ronan started participating in the Bike MS: Coast to Coast event as a way to support the cause instead of just writing out a check.

"I really got attached to them and wanted to help out with the cause ever since then," Ronan said.

Then about 18 years ago, Ronan became paralyzed all the way up to his head with a similar disease — Guillain-Barré, which attacks the auto immune system. Ronan was hospitalized but was able to recover as the disease was reversible.

"Mine was reversible, but the poor folks with MS just get perpetually worse," Ronan said.

On Saturday, Ronan will continue to raise awareness and funds for MS. He will be biking 25 miles for the cause and is looking to break his goal of $9,100 from last year. This year he is looking to raise $10,000. He has already raised $9,000.

All of the funds go directly to the National MS Society. To donate or learn more about Ronan’s bike ride click here.
