'Aid For Quaid Motorcycle Run' Benefits Those With Spinal Cord Injuries
Living as a quadriplegic for Warren local, Quaid Mobus is difficult but he has turned his accident into a way to help others.

WARREN, NJ — Each year Warren’s Quaid Mobus continues to host his annual “Aid for Quaid” Motorcycle Run to help others with spinal cord injury. But it’s not only through donations, but through Mobus himself that he is helping others. His uplifting spirit, moral and even seeing his physical progress, give hope for others going through the same thing.
“My health has improved and my mobility has improved,” Mobus told Patch. “My moral is a little bit better than last year. I have learned to deal with the situation at hand as time goes on.”
His uplifting moral is evident in the tone of his voice.

It will be almost four years since Mobus’ all-terrain vehicle accident that changed his life forever. During the ride in September 2013, Mobus hit a drainage ditch which caused his ATV to flip. He doesn’t remember anything after that except waking up in a hospital where he was determined to be a quadriplegic. He had sustained major damage to his spinal cord.
Mobus has been going to physical therapy twice a week, which has made his muscles stronger, especially in his abdomen and back.

“It has helped me balance a lot more,” Mobus said. “I am more mobile, which makes me happier.”
Mobus is now in the process of heading back to school in the fall possibly to study psychology.
“It will help with moral, it gives me something, a priority in my life,” Mobus said. “Everyone wants to contribute something to this world so going back to school will help me do that.”
Aside from Mobus' will to return to school, he is already contributing to the greater good through his foundation.
The fourth annual Aid for Quaid Motorcycle Run will be held on Saturday, May 20. Registration is from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Kickstands are up at 11 a.m.
Registration and the run will start at the Washington Valley Firehouse, 146 Washington Valley Road in Warren and will finish at the Watchung Hills Elks No. 885, 1 Elks Trail in Warren for a picnic.
The picnic/barbecue will be from noon to 6 p.m. and include live music, food and beverage and vendors. Donation is $20 at the door. All proceeds to the Quaid Mobus Foundation.
His nonprofit foundation is dedicated to providing support, assistance, information, education, resources and most of all hope to families afflicted with spinal cord injuries.
