On September 13, 2014, two Warren Township Schools’ staff members were involved in CERT training. CERT stands for Citizen Emergency Response Team. Lauren Nelson (left) and Laura Lamson (right) have been trained CERT members for many years in the township.

They are deployed to help in emergency situations. This past weekend, the training involved CERT members from all over Somerset County. One situation they trained for was an earthquake.

The simulation involved search and rescue. Nelson, Lamson and other CERT members successfully evacuated those in need during this mock scenario. Additionally, they had practice in dealing with a building on fire, as well as utilizing a triage center.

It was a full day of learning and training, and both women commented on how proud they are to serve Warren Township and its residents!
