'Watchung For Black Lives' Vigil Planned For Tuesday

WATCHUNG, NJ — Watchung 8th Grader Calee Goldstein is organizing a peaceful vigil to be held on Tuesday at Watchung Lake following the killing of George Floyd.

"This vigil needs to take place so that awareness can be spread, and justice can be seen. All lives don’t matter until black lives do," said Goldstein, who attends Valley View School.

The Watchung for Black Lives vigil will be held at 1 p.m. Participants are asked to be respectful and peaceful, practice social distancing, wear a mask, and bring signs. The event will take place rain or shine.

This vigil follows the killing of Floyd, 46, when then Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck for nearly nine minutes.
