After suffering their second loss of the season to Hunterdon Central, the Watchung Hills Warriors bounced back, defeating the Red Bank Catholic Caseys, 6-2.
Frank Butrico scored his first goal of his Varsity career in the beginning of the game. Later in the game Butrico put his second goal in the back of the net.
"It was great to get a couple goals. Alec [Orazietti] made a good look on the inside and I finished," said Butrico, describing one of his goals.
Tyler Furlong added two goals while Ryan Cunningham scored his 12th goal of the season.
Alec Orazietti added his team-leading seventh assist in the team's victory.
The Warriors played well on offense, but their defense was the key factor in the team's win.
"Defensively we settled in and anchored the team today. We worked as a unit, and not individuals." said Captain and defenseman Matt Rozmerski.
Nick Malinousky saved five shots and only let one goal in the net during the first half before Jack Ayre replaced him for the rest of the game.
Ayre saved seven shots and like Malinousky, only allowed one goal.
"The defense communicated very well throughout the game. Our slides were prepared and came with force when needed. It was a solid win for the team,” said Ayre.
Captain Danny Phillips believed the defense was great, but credited the win to the team, saying, "Defensively we worked on our clearing game and found a ton of success. As a whole, we played as a team and won as a team."
The team's next game is Monday, April 7 when they take on the Immaculata Spartans at home.
