Watchung Hills High School Among Best In New Jersey

Niche.com released its annual list of the top high schools in New Jersey. See where Watchung Hills ranks.

WARREN, NJ — The Watchung Hills Regional High School was among the top-ranked high schools in New Jersey for the 2020-21 school year, according to Niche's 2021 high school rankings.

The high school was ranked 43rd best in New Jersey and 5th best in Somerset County.

Each New Jersey district received a letter grade in the following categories: Academics; Diversity; Teachers; College Prep; Clubs & Activities; Health & Safety; Administration; Sports; Food; and Resources & Facilities.

To arrive at the rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data, and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology here.)

Watchung Hills has 1,948 students in grades 9-12 and has a student-teacher ratio of 12 to 1. A total of 42 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 72 percent in reading, according to state test scores reported by Niche.

"I loved my four years at WH! Coming from a small district, it was great to meet new students and friends. There are so many classes to choose from and everything you could imagine," said a Watchung Hills alum.
