4 Shoplifting Incidents, 3 Arrests Made In Watchung

A total of 4 shoplifting incidents were reported at Watchung stores including three arrests for shoplifting, drugs and warrants.

WATCHUNG, NJ — A total of 4 shoplifting incidents were reported at Watchung stores including three arrests for shoplifting, drugs and warrants, according to the police blotter.

Watchung Police Blotter:

On March 5 a 1:56 p.m.: Kohl's on Route 22 West reported a shoplifter fled from the store with merchandise. The suspect was described as a 5'10" thin black man approximately 50 years old with an unkempt beard wearing tan boots, navy pants, a dark hooded sweatshirt and a black NJ Devils winter hat. The suspect removed clothing valued at $232 and police are investigating.

On March 10 at 8:56 p.m.: Alahjuan Georges, 19, of Plainfield was arrested following a controlled dangerous substance(CDS) investigation outside Kohl's. Georges was observes smoking marijuana in police presence. During a search, he was found to have one marijuana cigarette and one metal grinder with marijuana residue. Georges was charged with one count of possession of marijuana and one count of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to headquarters, processed and released with a court date.

On March 11 at 1:15 a.m.: Nicole Specht, 23, of Branchburg was arrested for having a warrant out of Bridgewater for $139 following a traffic stop on Hillcrest Road. She was transported to headquarters, processed and released after posting bail.

On March 6 at 4:13 p.m.: Walmart on Route 22 West reported a shoplifter fled the store with merchandise. The suspect was described as a 18-20 year old black man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and camouflage pants. The suspect fled from the store with video games but the number of games and total value is yet to be determined.

On March 6 at 1:22 p.m.: DSW Shoes on Route 22 West reported a shoplifter who fled from the store with merchandise. The suspect was described as a 5' tall 40 year old Hispanic woman with light brown hair worn in a ponytail, wearing a black winter coat and blue jeans tucked into black boots. The suspect removed a duffel bag and two pocketbooks but the total retail value of the merchandise is yet to be determined.

On March 5 at 7:27 p.m.: Tyrone Harris, 60, of Plainfield was arrested for shoplifting baby items totaling $158.87 from Target on Route 22 West. Harris removed the baby clothes, diapers, and baby formula off the shelf and placed them inside a shopping cart and tried to leave the store without paying. He was issued a summonses and released with a court date.
