70 Bricks Of Heroin Seized During Drug Bust In Somerset County
The 70 bricks (3,500 bags) of heroin had a 97% purity level and had a street value of about $27,000, according to the prosecutor.

WATCHUNG, NJ — A total of 70 bricks of heroin were seized and two men were arrested following a drug investigation in Somerset County.
Edwin Miranda, 28, of East 36th Street, Patterson and Jeramy Lozano, 25,of East 38th Street, Patterson were both charged with second degree, distribution of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) (heroin), according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.
Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force were investigating the dealing of heroin by Miranda.

On Feb. 22, an undercover detective made arrangements to meet with Miranda along with another man, later identified as Lozano, in order to buy 50 bricks (2,500 bags) of heroin, Robertson said.
During the meeting — in a restaurant parking lot located on Route 22 in Watchung — both Miranda and Lozano met with an undercover detective,who purchased the 50 bricks of heroin in exchange for cash. Once the transaction was completed Task Force members arrested both Miranda and Lozano without incident, Robertson said.

The undercover detective had also made numerous purchases of heroin from Miranda totaling approximately 70 bricks (3,500 bags) of heroin during the ongoing investigation.
The suspected heroin purchased was analyzed by the New Jersey State Police which revealed positive results for heroin with up to a 97 percent purity level, according to reports.
The estimated street value of the heroin seized during this investigation is approximately $27,000.
Miranda and Lozano were both lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
