Vehicle Burglarized on Acorn Drive, Police Say

Items taken were valued at about $600, according to Watchung Police.

A Watchung resident reported several items stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in an Acorn Drive driveway between 9 p.m. Sept. 18 and 7 a.m. Sept. 19, according to police.

Among the items taken were a computer charger, radar detector and a deposit stamp, valued at $600 altogether.

Police are continuing to investigate the theft.

An AT&T employee reported the theft of a cell phone at 3:41 p.m. Sept. 24 while she was working at the store on Route 22. The phone was valued at $520.

Daniel Demaurez, 21, of Plainfield, was charged with shoplifting and possession of burlgary tools at 4:04 p.m. Sept. 21, after employees at Kohl's reported that he had taken clothing and watches valued at $551.95 without paying. Demaurez fled the store, but was picked up by police on Berkeley Avenue, in Plainfield. He was turned over to Somerset County Jail after fialing to post a $500 bond.

Frances Henry, 51, of Newark, was charged with shoplifting clothing valued at $479.43 from the Kohl's at 3:40 p.m. Sept. 18. She was turned over to Somerset County Jail after failing to post a $500 bail.

Employees at the Ulta cosmetics store reported three women came in to the store and took an unknown amount of cosmetics before fleeing at 6:10 p.m. Sept. 19.

A Hillcrest Road resident reported fraudulent activity on his credit card Sept. 19. The resident said a $100 charge had been fraudulently processed.

Eduardo Rodriguez, 45, of Plainfield, was charged with shoplifting four pillows. valued at $40 in total, from the Sears store at 11 a.m. Sept. 19. He was released after posting a $100 bond, pending an appearance in municipal court.

Jova Villacis, 45, of North Plainfield, was charged with shoplifting cosmetics valued at $41.08 at the Wal-Mart store at 7:12 p.m. Sept. 19. She was released on her own after the charge was filed, pending an appearance in municipal court.

Joanne Henry-Cox, 48, of Union, was charged with shoplifting women's clothing valued at $246.35 from the Kohl's department store at 3:40 p.m. Sept. 18.  She was released after posting a $100 bond, pending an appearance in municipal court.

Pandora Rodriguez, 49, of Manville, was charged with shoplifting men's and women's fragrances, valued at $307 in total, from the Sears store at about 3:30 p.m. Sept. 17. She was taken to Somerset County Jail, with bail set at $500.
