WATCHUNG, NJ — The Watchung Police Department is teaming up with Marino's Trattoria this summer to encourage bicycle and eBike safety through positive reinforcement.
As part of the initiative, officers from the department's Traffic Unit will be on the lookout for young riders who are following the rules of the road, including wearing bicycle helmets and operating their bikes in compliance with state and local laws. Instead of issuing a citation, officers will reward safe riders with a coupon for a free slice of pizza from Marino's Trattoria.
Police say the partnership is designed to promote safe riding habits among children and teens while strengthening community relationships. Parents are encouraged to remind their children to wear helmets, follow traffic laws, and ride responsibly throughout the summer.
