WATCHUNG, NJ — Somerset County's Engineering Division will host a public hearing on Wednesday, July 29 provide an update on proposed safety improvements along Hillcrest Road (County Route 531) between Valley Road and Crestwood Drive.
The in-person meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Borough of Watchung Municipal Building, Council Chambers, located at 15 Mountain Blvd.
A formal presentation outlining the project is scheduled for 7 p.m., followed by opportunities for residents to speak with county engineers and project consultants.
According to the county, the section of County Route 531 has been identified as a high-priority safety corridor, ranking poorly on New Jersey roadway crash screening lists and appearing on the state's most recent High Injury Network (HIN) list. The proposed improvements are designed to address documented safety concerns based on engineering studies, traffic data, and roadway analyses.
Officials will present the proposed roadway improvements, construction staging plans, anticipated detours, and the overall project schedule. Community members, public officials, and other interested residents are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and provide feedback on the project before construction begins.
