• Watchung's Valley View Middle School Named Among 39 AMLE Schools of Distinction (TAPinto.net) — Valley View Middle School in Watchung has been named a 2026 AMLE School of Distinction, one of just 39 schools across the U.S. and Canada to earn the honor. Residents are invited to celebrate the achievement at a Watchung Borough Board of Education ribbon-cutting and recognition event for the Outdoor Learning Commons on Wednesday, October 28, at 5 p.m.
   

• Junior field hockey player nets go-ahead goal to power Delaware Valley over Mount St. Mary (nj.com subscription) — A Skyland-Valley Division field hockey matchup in Watchung saw Delaware Valley edge Mount St. Mary 4-3 on Thursday, keeping Delaware Valley unbeaten. Local fans saw a dramatic third quarter, with the go-ahead goal and two scores from Alyssa Deets proving just enough to withstand Mount St. Mary's late push.
