Car Drives Off Rt. 22, Flips And Lands On Parked Car In Costco
A Toyota Camry flipped over onto its roof and landed on top of a parked vehicle in the Costco parking lot in North Plainfield on Wednesday.
NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — A car lost control on Route 22 and hit a retaining wall before flipping over and landing onto a parked car in the Costco lot on Wednesday night, North Plainfield Police report.
On March 20 at around 4:03 p.m. Ramy L. Fanous, 35, of Bayonne was driving on the eastbound side of Route 22 in North Plainfield in the left lane at a high rate of speed, according to a witness in the police report.
Fanous tried to stop abruptly due to traffic but lost control of his 2003 Toyota Camry and veered off the highway into a retaining wall before flipping over and coming to a rest on the car's roof on top of 2010 Honda CRV that was parked in the Costco lot, according to the witness.

Fanous has a different version of events stating he was driving eastbound when he tried to switch over to the right lane and lost control of his car before crashing, according to the police report.
The back seat passenger of the Camry suffered a slight abrasion to the right hand. All involved occupants refused medical attention, police report.

Fanous was issued summonses for reckless driving, careless driving and delaying traffic.
