The Contemporary Art Group 10th Annual Members Show

The Watchung Arts Center will be presenting the annual members show of the Contemporary Art Group in its Upper Gallery. The exhibition will be on display from May 1 - May 31, 2016. An opening reception will be held on Sunday May 1, 2016 from 1-4 pm. This will be a themed show inspired by the poem, “Nature” by Emily Dickinson. Painting, drawing, photography, book art and sculpture will be exhibited. The show will also be judged. Our judge this year is Jeanne Brasile, the curator of the Walsh Gallery at Seton Hall University. Ms. Brasile will also speak about the show and her selections at the May 18th CAG meeting at Watching Arts Center at 7:00pm. All are welcome.

There will be light refreshments and live music will be performed by Pam Purvis and Bob Ackerman. From 3-4 there will be a presentation, Living With Art - How It Impacts Our Lives, by Dr. Anthony Nicoli.

Dr. Nicoli is an artist, Senior Professor, and Coordinator of Fine Arts, teaching at Union County College since 1974. Additionally, since 1987, he has served as a Guest Professor at the Academy of Art and Design, in Beijing, China, and as an Advisory Professor at East China Normal University, in Shanghai. He has served as the Director of the Tomasulo Art Gallery for over twenty years. Professor Nicoli has a B.F.A. from the University of Massachusetts and an M.F.A. from Rutgers University.

The Contemporary Art Group is a non -profit, collegial organization of working artists who meet on a regular basis at Watchung Arts Center and exhibit their work together. CAG is a supportive group where there is mutual respect among members, where members exchange ideas, provide information about exhibit opportunities and share their own artistic development. The Watchung Arts Center is located on the circle at 18 Stirling Road, Watchung, NJ. The Gallery is open noon-5pm Tuesday-Friday and 10:00am-3:00pm on Saturday.
