Driver Hospitalized After Car Flips on Route 22

Accident occurred Thursday night near Rock Avenue.

Green Brook volunteer firefighters extricated the driver of a car that careened off Route 22 West, just west of Rock Avenue, at about 9 p.m. Thursday.

Only one person was reported in the car, which was flipped on its roof about 20 feet off the road. The driver was reported to have been taken to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center for treatment.

Witnesses said the car was traveling at a high rate of speed before the accident, clipping the front of another vehicle just before hitting an embankment.

Westbound traffic on Route 22 backed up, as traffic was detoured onto Rock Avenue. 

Green Brook EMS and police also responded to the accident.
