Environmental Education Center Programs In Somerset County
The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonders of nature during the winter months in Somerset County.

CHILDREN & PARENT/CHILD PROGRAMS
The Scoop on Poop

Tuesday, January 20 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.
Children age infant to 5 with a parent will read a story about poop and go
on a scat search, learning about the different animals found in the
wild.
Fee is $10 per pair and $5 per additional child..

Animal Olympics
Friday, January 23 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.
Children age infant to 5 with a parent will learn which animals are the
biggest, smallest, slowest, and fastest record holders.
Fee is $10 per pair & $5 per additional child.

ADULT & FAMILY PROGRAMS
Let’s Eat – NEW!
Wednesday, January 21 from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.
Family and friends of all ages will join a Naturalist to break bread while
learning that food can be fun, nutritious, and delicious. Theme for
the session is “Soup.”
Fee is $6 per person.

Solar Oven Saturday – NEW!
Saturday, January 24 from 1:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M.
Family and friends of all ages are asked to bring an empty pizza box to the
EEC and have it transformed into an amazing solar oven.
The program is free with pre-registration required.

Sugaring by Moonlight – NEW!
Saturday, January 24 from 5:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M.
Family and friends of all ages will gather around the fireplace with a
Naturalist to hear tales of how the secret or maple’s sweetness was
discovered and how it is made today.
Fee is $7 per person

Blue “BOBO (Buy One – Bring One) Fridays” bins now are located at the Environmental Education Center and Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, as well as at the Somerset County Park Commission headquarters at North Branch Park in Bridgewater. The public is invited to drop off canned food or personal-care items for donation to Somerset County food banks.
