Extreme Heat Watch Issued For Watchung Through July 4 Weekend
The alert will go into effect on Wednesday.
WATCHUNG, NJ — Watchung residents are being advised to prepare for several days of hotter temperatures as an Extreme Heat Watch has been issued from Wednesday through Saturday.
Forecasters have predicted daytime temperatures approaching 100 degrees during that period, with heat index values between 105 and 110 degrees.
The worst conditions are expected on Thursday and Friday.

Watchung residents are advised to:
- Stay in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.
- Limit outdoor activities, especially during the hottest part of the day.
- Drink plenty of water
- Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and take frequent breaks if working or exercising outdoors.
Residents are also advised to check on elderly neighbors, young children, and anyone without access to air conditioning.
