Far Hills Country Day School Students Win Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

Far Hills, NJ – Far Hills is proud to announce that six of its students received Scholastic Writing Awards. Teens in grades 7 through 12 apply in 28 categories of art and writing. Submissions are juried by luminaries in the visual and literary arts, some of whom are past award recipients. Panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.

Gold Key winners are automatically entered for the national competition. According to English teacher and 2014 Non-Public School Teacher of the Year Lauren Bergland, “We are so proud of our students who were recognized in this prestigious contest, whose past winners have included writers Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, and Joyce Carol Oates. This contest recognizes talent in young writers and looks for personal voice, originality, and technical skill, and it is an incredible honor to be acknowledged by literary leaders in our country who judge this contest.”
