"Focus on Still Life" - Theresa Hood Photography Exhibit at the Watchung Arts Center
Opening reception on Sunday, January 10 1-4 PM. Reception and Exhibit are Free and Open to the Public.
During the months of January, March and May, the Lower Gallery of the Watchung Arts Center will display the works of the three winners of the New Art Group’s 2015 Solo Show Competition. The first of these exhibits, “Focus on Still Life” will highlight the photography of Theresa Hood. There will be an opening reception on January 10, 2015 from 1 – 4 PM. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
Terri Hood is a freelance photographer located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She enjoys landscape, wildlife and fine art photography.
Ms. Hood describes her work as follows: “Whether I am creating a still life, reinterpreting a painting or photographing a found still life, I find that they are all about the composition and more importantly the light. The challenge this type of photography presents gives me a deep appreciation and respect for those artists who have come before me to master this type of art.

My photographs have a painterly feeling to them which I create in post processing with the use of various filters and textures.”
Terri has exhibited her work extensively throughout New Jersey including The Mayo Performing Arts Center, Overlook Hospital, The Bistro Gallery, The Somerset County Cultural and Heritage Commission, Old York Cellars, Frelinghuysen Arboretum, The Clarence Dillon Library, The Hunterdon County Library, The Chauncey Center in Princeton, Artspace at Mondo, The South Brunswick Arts Council, and Grounds for Sculpture. Her solo exhibition “Life Along the River” is currently being displayed at the Musconetcong Watershed Association Gallery.

One of her portraits of a glass blower, Cody Nicely, was commissioned by the artist for use in his advertising and marketing literature. Her photography has won numerous local, national and international awards.
She is currently a member of the Photographic Society of America where she serves as a commentator for their digital study group on nature and is an instructor for their online courses. In addition, she is the Exhibition Director for the PSA Metropolitan Chapter. The Hunterdon County Photography Club of which she is a founding member as well as the acting Vice President. The New Jersey Photography Forum where she serves as CoManager of the Exhibition Committee and has been a member of the Contemporary Arts Group for the past 4 years.
Also in January, the Art Center’s Heinz W. Otto Gallery will feature the work of several local, in a group exhibit entitled “Obstruction”, curated by Caitlin Albright.
