Friedman Passes on School Board Race
Three file for first November school board voting.

Green Brook Township Board of Eduction memberĀ Randi Friedman did not file for a spot on November's ballot for the school board, according to the Somerset County Clerk's Office.
Instead, Friedman's seat will likely be filled by Blue Hills Terrace residentĀ Lisa Couch, who, along with current board membersĀ Stephanie R. Green, of Ridge Road, and Warrenville Road residentĀ Bruce Martins, submitted a nomination for the November ballot by the deadline for filing, Tuesday.Ā
Voters will fill the three seats on the township board in November, with three-year terms that begin Jan. 1.

Candidates wishing to run had to file nominating petitions by a 4 p.m. deadline Tuesday. This year is the first thatĀ afterĀ the board voted to eliminate a budget vote and move board member electionsĀ to be tied with the general election.
According to the New Jersey School Boards Association, 468 school districts from throughout the state, representing more than 85 percent of the state's elected school boards, voted to move school board elections to Nov. 6.
