Green Brook Board Reschedules Meeting and Retreat
Meeting canceled after not everyone can attend the scheduled board retreat.

The school board meeting slated for Monday was canceled, after several members said they wouldn't be able to attend what was going to be the board's annual retreat to hammer out goals for the upcoming year.
“We were planning on having a board retreat tonight, but not everyone could make it,” said Board of Education President James Benscoter. “Since we are a board of nine, I want 100 percent attendance. I didn’t want just a quorum.
"Since it’s summer at least four couldn’t attend, so it was re-scheduled to a date in either October or November,” he said.

While Benscoter knew that they rescheduled the retreat, he didn’t realize the whole meeting was canceled.
“I thought we just canceled the retreat, not the entire meeting,” said Benscoter. “The reminder went off on my Blackberry, so I’m here.”

The regular meeting has been rescheduled to Aug. 27.
As for the retreat, Benscoter said the meeting gives the board a chance to step back from its usual routine to discuss the upcoming school year.
“The goal is to take a step back from the business of the board,” said Benscoter. “The purpose is to go over a refresher of roles and responsibilities. We also review the results of our online self-evaluation. Finally, we come up with goals for the following year and give the administration guidance on how to best run the school.”
