Green Brook Sees Some Power Restored

As some electrical service is starting to flicker in Green Brook, township officials renewed the warning to residents to stay away from power lines.

"We are asking that all residents stay clear of any wires or trees on wires," Township Administrator Kelly Cupit said. "Especially because portions of town are being energized, all wires should be considered live and very dangerous." 

Cupit reported about 1,000 PSE&G customers have had power restored. She said some residents will see interruptions in their service as more areas are connected, but any such disruption should be short lived. 

The return of electrical power also means residents should not attempt to cut downed trees or branches near power lines.

"Not only is this dangerous, it makes it difficult for the power companies to see what needs to be repaired," Cupit said. 

PSE&G crews are working on area substations, and she added the crews are working around the clock—yielding some results to residents' relief.

"This is a difficult time for our township," she added. "If you are fortunate enough to have power, please share! Please be patient and thank you!"

Township officials request residents call 911 only for life-threatening emergencies. Otherwise, call the township's main number (732-968-1023, ext 6602) "and we will do our best to answer the phones and the voicemails as they come in."
