Intro To Pilates In Somerset County

Classes begin January 7 at the Environmental Education Center.

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center (EEC) staff are offering “Intro to Pilates,” a 4-session program for adults that will take place at the EEC, 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge, New Jersey beginning Wednesday, January 7, 2015.

Participants will join an Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) certified instructor for a group Pilates class based on the exercises developed by Joseph Pilates.

The course will focus on muscle balance and proper alignment, strengthening of your core muscles, increasing flexibility and overall muscle tone.

The fee is $32 for the 4-session program running Wednesday, January 7, 14, 21, and 28, 2015 from 5:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. Participants are asked to bring their own exercise mat. Pre-registration is required and may be accomplished at www.somersetcountyparks.org, by visiting the EEC, or by phone at 908-766-2489.

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center is located within Lord Stirling Park, in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township, and is nestled within 450 acres of the western portion of the Great Swamp Basin of the Passaic River. A swamp vivarium, and an environmentally based library are located within the Center itself.

Blue “BOBO (Buy One - Bring One) Fridays” bins now are located at the Environmental Education Center and Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, as well as at the Somerset County Park Commission headquarters at North Branch Park in Bridgewater. The public is invited to drop off canned food or personal-care items for donation to Somerset County food banks.
