Jefferson Avenue Bridge Closed Indefinitely

The Jefferson Avenue Bridge in Green Brook, Dunellen and Plainfield has been closed due to safety concerns.

The Jefferson Avenue Bridge over the Green Brook, between Green Brook Township, the Borough of Dunellen and the City of Plainfield, will be closed indefinitely as of Tuesday, July 7.

The truss bridge is in poor condition and is being closed at this time due to concerns for public safety. No repairs will be performed, as the bridge is to be demolished and removed in its entirety as part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ proposed advancement of the Green Brook Flood Control Project, slated to begin this fall.
