Locals Quacking Up Over Duck Donuts
Duck Donuts, a made-to-order doughnut shop, has opened in Green Brook.
GREEN BROOK, NJ — Locals are quacking up over Duck Donuts. A Somerset County local has opened up the franchise store in Green Brook.
A ribbon cutting was recently held on Dec. 2 with the Somerset County Business Partnership.
The first Duck Donuts was opened in the Outer Banks, NC which became the inspiration for the Green Brook location.

"I was vacationing in the Outer Banks and had their doughnuts and fell in love with all of it,"Carrie Neigel of Branchburg and owner of the Green Brook location told Patch. "I couldn't let it go. I have young kids and this place is very kid-friendly, with the duck logo and all."
"And the doughnuts are amazing," Neigel said. "I have never had doughnuts like this in my life. I wanted to bring that to my community."

Neigel found the location on Route 22 East in Green Brook and thought it was the perfect location for her franchise store.
The store had a soft opening on Nov. 16 and despite not getting the sign up for the store until this week, customers have been flocking in.
"The customer response has been really positive," Neigel said. "It seems word of mouth is getting around and we are getting lots of local kids working here."
Unlike other doughnut chains, Neigel says Duck Donuts has something special to offer.
"Everything sets us apart," Neigel said. "We have made-to-order donuts that you can customize the toppings. Everything is fresh while you wait. And it's kid-friendly since kids can watch the doughnuts being made.I think it is a really amazing treat and unlike any other doughnut I've ever had."
Duck Donuts is located at Green Brook Shopping Center, 215 Route 22, Green Brook Township. They are open Monday and Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday to Saturday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
