Madelyn Barkocy awarded 2015 Perry Award

(Rahway, NJ Sept. 20, 2015) – Madelyn Barkocy (Rockaway) was recently awarded the 2015 Perry Award for OUTSTANDING YOUTH ACTRESS IN A PLAY by NJACT at its 42nd Annual Community Theater Awards program at the Doubletree Somerset Hotel & Executive Meeting Center. Ms. Barkocy was presented the Perry Award for her portrayal of the young “Scout” in Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbrd back in October at UCPAC’s Hamilton Stage in Rahway. The show was presented by Fearless Productions and directed by Steve Lemenille (Clark) and produced by Jessica Foerst (Westfield).

The NJACT (New Jersey Association of Community Theaters) Perry Awards are given for outstanding achievements in New Jersey Community Theater. At the beginning of each season, NJACT Member Theaters submit their shows for award consideration. Two NJACT Reviewers attend each production, evaluate all on-stage aspects of the performance, and provide separate numerical scores for over 50 different criteria across 10 different review categories. More than 200 shows produced by theater companies around the state are submitted each year, which require over 400 reviews by trained NJACT volunteers.
