Mount Saint Mary Academy in Watchung will offer ‘Writing the College Essay,’ a summer course for high school students designed to prepare them for key writing components of the college application. The course will be offered June 23 through June 27 from 9-11 a.m. on the Academy campus. It is open to girls and boys in high school. Students do not need to be enrolled at the Mount to register.
The class will focus on the process of developing an effective college essay, personal statement, and free responses. Students and the instructor will identify and examine characteristics of successful essays through roundtable discussion, individual conferencing, and peer editing. At the conclusion of the course, students will have developed their essay's sense of purpose, presence of voice, and clarity of theme.
