MSMA STUDENT ACHIEVES TOP ACT SCORE

Watchung, NJ, July 27, 2015, Mount Saint Mary Academy senior and Westfield resident, Julia MacDonald, earned the highest possible composite score of 36 on a recent ACT test. The ACT test is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in English, Mathematics, Reading and Science. While the actual number of students earning a composite score of 36 varies from year to year, on average, less than one-tenth of one percent of students who take the ACT nationally earn the top score.

Not only does Julia credit this exceptional achievement helpful to pursuing her education and career goals, she acknowledges her experiences at Mount Saint Mary Academy. According to Julia, “Attending the Mount has not only inspired me to tap into my academic curiosity and push me to be my best, but it also has given me a supportive community to help me achieve new heights in academic and personal growth.” Julia’s class schedule is comprised of a multitude of AP and Honors courses ranging from AP Environmental Science to Latin IV Honors.

While Julia dedicates a majority of her time to her academics, she spends her extra time volunteering at the Westfield United Fund and as a camp counselor for kindergarteners at the SunSpark Labs Vacation Bible School as a member of the Parish Community of St. Helen. Starting this fall, Julia will be the co-captain of her varsity volleyball team, returning member of the Fed Challenge team, a peer minister and Kairos Retreat Coordinator, and her Senior Class Secretary.
