
The foreman of a construction crew working on a new house being built on Valley Drive reported the theft of miscellaneous supplies and equipment valued at $6,954 from the job site, Watchung Borough Police said.
The reported theft occurred sometime between 7:45 p.m. Aug. 7 and 5:45 a.m. Aug. 8.
Police are continuing to investigate the theft.

Other theft reports filed by police include:
- On Aug. 9, a manager at reported theft of a rack and boxes of files from the rear of the store, valued at $800. The theft occurred sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Aug. 9. Police are investigating the theft.
- A Berkeley Heights resident reported the theft of a cell phone valued at $460 while shopping at the grocery store between 7:59 p.m. and 8:09 p.m. Aug. 6.
- A manager at Wal-Mart reported seeing a woman flee the store after taking several items at 3:28 p.m. Aug. 5. The items were valued at $49.94 in total.
- Lisa Cress, 35, of Kenilworth, was charged with shoplifting at 1:48 p.m. Aug. 3, after security personnel atreported she had attempted to shoplift children's clothing valued at $64. She was released on her own after the charge was filed, pending an appearance in municipal court.
