Police: Man Ran Out of Apartment Yelling, Cursing at Officers

Fred Mason, 24, was charged with obstruction, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct Sunday night.

A Watchung man yelled and cursed at officers who were responding to a report of carbon monoxide in a Route 22 apartment complex, police said.

Fred Mason, 24, was charged with obstruction, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct at about 11 p.m. Sunday.

According to Acting Police Chief Joseph Cina, the Watchung police and fire departments responded to the Avalon apartment complex for a report of an activated carbon monoxide detector.

When they arrived, Mason "emerged from his dwelling yelling and cursing at the officers," Cina said.

"After repeated requests to lower his voice and return to his residence were refused, Mr Mason was placed under arrest," Cina said.

Mason was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
