Shaheed Brown, 35, of North Plainfield, was taken into custody and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of codeine, after security personnel reported observing him shoplifting DVDs.
The store reported Brown stuck four DVDs in his pants pocket, and fled the store. caught him, and discovered the drugs as he was being processed on the shoplifting charge.
He was also charged with two counts of resisting arrest for fleeing from police.

Brown was turned over to Somerset County jail with bail set at $10,000, pending a court appearance on Aug. 17.
