Singer/Songwriter Chip Mergott to Appear at the Watchung Arts Center

Concert November 19 at 8:00 PM.

Singer/songwriter Chip Mergott, a former resident of Watchung, will perform in concert at the Watchung Arts Center on Saturday, November 19 at 8 PM. The evening will include a dessert reception and an opportunity for the audience to meet Mr. Mergott.

Chip Mergott, known locally from his days as a member of Central New Jersey’s “Bittersweet”, was discovered by Bonnie Raitt, and subsequently signed to a major label early in his career. He is currently promoting his 18th release for Notebook Records, one of the country's longest running independent labels, which he founded. His “Mergott Music Minute” is currently heard on WDVR, WPRB (“Music You Can’t Hear on the Radio”) among other stations, and is a weekly feature in The Bucks County Herald.

His“Bittersweet” bandmate Alan LeBoeuf (Beatlemania’s Paul McCartney) has said of Chip’s 2016 release: "Chip Mergott is one of my favorite composers, lyricists, singers, and instrumentalists. His newest album "I Can't Stop Myself" is a magic trick. It's just not possible to do what he's done. He's taken highly original words and music, and made them seem as familiar and warm as your baby blanket. Beautiful, intelligent, uplifting, and diverse. A joy from beginning to end. I give it my highest recommendation."
