Three Out Of State Residents Charged For Robbing A Somerset County Victoria's Secret Store

Three out of state residents were arrested in Somerset County for allegedly shoplifting from a Victoria’s Secret Store and assaulting the security officers who attempted to apprehend them.

On Jan. 9, Bridgewater police received a report that one man and two women shoplifted $799.50 worth of merchandise from the Victoria Secret Store in the Bridgewater Commons Mall.

The suspects were later identified as:

• Kevin Garner, 55, of Midwood Street, Brooklyn, New York (middle photo) 
• Quatavia Ashburn, 23, of Union Street, of Brooklyn, New York (right photo) 
• Crystal Morrison, 34, of Observation Court, Germantown, Maryland (left photo) 

When Garner was confronted by a security officer in the parking lot of the mall he pushed the officer over the hood of a parked vehicle, but with the assistance of addition security officers, was apprehended and held until police arrived.

“A second Mall Security Officer attempted to stop defendants Ashburn and Morrison while still inside the mall,” according tot the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office. “When confronted, Defendant Morrison produced a large canister of pepper spray, and she sprayed the security officer causing temporary blindness and pain.”

The women fled the mall and were later found by police at a nearby hotel where Morrison used the pepper spray for a second time when confronted by one of the hotel’s security officers.

All three defendants were lodged in the Somerset County Jail and each were charged with Robbery, 2nd Degree, Possession of a Weapon, 3rd Degree and Shoplifting, 3rd Degree.

Bail was set at $100,000 cash or bond for Garner and Morrison and $50,000 cash or bond for Ashburn.
