Two Charged with Suspected Heroin Possession

Stevie Verbesky, 27, of West Orange, and Shawn Ward, 42, of Plainfield, were charged with possession of heroin and paraphrenalia, after Watchung police stopped the vehicle Verbesky was driving westbound on Route 22 for runing a red light at 2:40 a.m. Aug. 3.
Police said a search of the vehicle after the stop lead to three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance for each. Testing has been ordered to confirm the suspected drug is heroin.
Also, Ward was found to have outstanding motor vehicle and criminal warrants issued by Union, East Orange, Glen Ridge, Plainfield and Newark municipal courts. He was also charged with failing to wear his seat belt, and was turned over to Somerset County Jail after the charges were filed.

Verbesky was also charged with fialing to maintain the lights on the vehicle she was driving, driving without insurance and failing to stop for a red light. She was released after the charges were filed, pending an appearance in municipal court.
