Vehicles Stolen Outside Warren, Watchung Homes

Police investigate incidents that occurred over the past week.

A pair of motor vehicle thefts were reported between Sept. 6 and Sept. 13, according to police in Watchung and Warren.

The reports included the theft of a 2007 BMW 328, taken sometime after 11 p.m. Wednesday after the Loren Way owner left the keys in the unlocked vehicle parked at the residence. 

The vehicle was recovered by New Jersey State Police on Interstate 78 in Hillside at about 2:45 a.m. Thursday, however, a 2011 Dodge Charger stolen in Watchung has not been located.

Watchung police said the $25,000 vehicle was stolen from a Shadybrook Court driveway sometime between 5 p.m. Sept. 5 and 6 a.m. Sept. 6.

The Warren theft was the first reported since January, when , part of a series of thefts in the area at the end of 2011 and beginning of 2012. A total of 13 high-end vehicles were stolen over several weeks in neighborhoods close to Interstate 78 in Berkeley Heights, Warren and Basking Ridge.

No one has been charged in connection to the thefts.
