Vatsal Shah, of Green Brook, was inducted into the Sigma Chapter of the Alpha Epsilon Lambda National Honor Society for Graduate and Professional Students at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) on Nov. 20, 2014. Sotirios Ziavras, Ph.D., Associate Provost for Graduate Studies was the keynote speaker at the induction ceremony and dinner.
Shah is pursuing a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at NJIT’s Newark College of Engineering. In May 2014, he was the first alumnus to receive the NJIT Alumni Association GeNext Award for Alumni Achievement, which is bestowed upon young alumni for significant professional accomplishments.
Alpha Epsilon Lambda was founded in 1990 with the specific objective of recognizing the academic and leadership accomplishments of graduate and professional school students. The criteria for selection into the Sigma Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Lambda at NJIT include academic excellence; leadership activities (academic, professional, or community); exemplary character; and completion of at least two-thirds of the credits toward an NJIT master’s or doctoral degree.
